heard about this 'trick' for setting pickup height. dangle a paperclip over the the pole piece and adjust the height of the pickup so the manetic field is not 'grabbing' the paperclip too much. it really does 'work', where you just have to feel for when the paperclip isn't being dragged down by the magnetic pull too hard. bringing the paperclip down from above the guitar you can see that the magnet is grabbing the paperclip a few mm above the string.. so move the pickup down a few mm et voila. **** going by the numerous comments, i want to reassure people that i'm not an idiot, and this was done purely for curiosity/demonstration purposes. this is not the way i set up my guitars. i'll leave the video up for other curious types, but yes, i'm fully aware of the flaws with this method and do not recommend anyone set their pickup heights like this, despite the science behind not wanting excessive magnetic 'pull' on the strings. ****** Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster (swapped pickguard for a Fender USA tort one)
