These are the first and best modification you can make to these offset smokers to make them work really well. These are not the ONLY ones though, only the best. Another would be to put a gasket on the lid but that is about all it lacks right now. You can modify these for very little money. I have about $20 in mods using salvaged parts and scrap metal and it cooks awesome! These Mods are great for any similar "Cheap Offset Smoker" (COS) smoker. Here are the thermometers: http://goo.gl/z5CRHb Do you want it to last many years? For care of this smoker: 1. Keep it covered or in a shed/garage if possible. (out of the weather) 2. When the paint starts to cook off, hit it with a wire brush and touch it up with high temp stove paint. 3. Keep stuff from building up in the bottom. This one is about 3 years old and about due for another painting. Last tip BE CAREFUL of your ash! It's very easy to start a fire with ash you thought was out a day ago! (Ask me how I know!)
