RAF Hendon - NEW Hangar 1 [Dec '18]

The Royal Air Force Museum (RAF Museum London) is a museum located on the territory of the former Hendon airfield in north London, dedicated to the history of aviation and the Royal Air Force of Great Britain. The museum is a registered charity and is sponsored by the UK Department of Defense. The second part of the collection is presented in the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford, near Birmingham (English Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, RAF Museum Cosford). The territory of the former Hendon airfield in London was chosen for the museum because of its long history of aviation. On November 15, 1972, the Queen of Great Britain officially opened the Royal Air Force Museum in London. At the time of opening the museum collection consisted of 36 aircraft. In the following years, more than 130 aircraft were purchased by the museum, some of which are on display at the Museum in Cosford, and some are in the storerooms and for restoration. The collection of the Royal Air Force Museum in London at the end of 2010 consisted of more than 100 aircraft from around the world, from the first aircraft to modern jet combat aircraft.
