Saucony Ride Iso 2 - First Run

Today, I take the Saucony Ride Iso 2 out for a 20 mile run. This is a line of shoes that I've had mixed experiences with, where I loved the Ride 10 GTX but I didn't love it's successor, the Ride Iso. The Ride Iso, while a good shoe, was hot, heavy, and a bit rigid. The heaviness has certainly been improved upon in this shoe. As a moderate pace long distance shoe, it's by no means featherweight, but it feels lighter in hand and on foot than last year. And they seem to have changed the midsole (although I suppose I could be imagining it) to make it less rigid. While a floppy shoe isn't exactly what I want, last year's shoe seemed to be fighting me at times (some would say, it was correcting me). This shoe hasn't done that yet, even when I was at my more tired points along today's long run. There is still that hint of stability that Saucony likes to sneak in, but it hasn't been a problem so far. But as far as heat is concerned, the upper (and again, I may be imagining it) seems thinner and more breathable, especially regarding some of the overlays. However, there is still the matter of the sweat sponges around the heel collar and on the tongue. Those luxuriously soft memory-foam like pillows that gently caress your ankle and heel feel great when you put on the shoes. But they tend to collect moisture on sweaty days. I didn't run into any issues today, but we are still in early spring in Chicago. So, so far so good I would say, but there's further investigation required, so stay tuned for the 100 mile update. ride iso 2 https://amzn.to/2w3oRcE Thanks for watching!
