Ys 1 Chronicles: Ancient Ys Vanished | A Quick Retrospective

The legendary Ys series is one of the longest running JRPG series ever and has been around for over 30 years now. With its newest installment 'Ys IX: Monstrum Nox' only a few weeks away from a western release, we wanted to take a look back at where the series all began. The first entry 'Ys: Ancient Ys Vanished' initially came out for Japanese computer systems in 1987 but would be re-released near countless times over the years. This retrospective is going to focus on the Chronicles + version from 2013, which features brand new graphics and cutscenes, a remastered soundtrack, small narrative changes, slight QoL improvements, etc. As a huge fan of the franchise who hadn't played the OG games until now, it was really interesting to see where the roots of the story started.
