Which is the best window cleaning detergent to use with a Karcher window vacuum? This video tests 4 solutions, Karcher glass cleaner concentrate, windolene, water and fairy washing up liquid (5 ml per 500 ml) and a solution consisting of 1 part white vinegar to 8 parts water plus fairy washing up liquid (5 ml per 500 ml). All four solutions are used to clean windows and the results compared The best two solutions are then tested on a shower screen. The relative cost of each solution was based on the following calculations: Karcher glass cleaner: Price £5 per 500 ml bottle. Mix ratio 1:10 so 1 bottle makes 5.5 litres of cleaning solution when diluted. £5/5.5 = £0.91 per litre Windolene: Price £1.50 per 500 ml bottle so £3.00 per litre. Fairy liquid: Price £2.00 per 625 ml bottle. Two 5 ml teaspoons per litre of water = (£2/625)x10 = £0.032 White vinegar: Price £0.55 per 500 ml bottle = £0.011/ml. Using a 1:8 ratio = (1000/9) x 0.011 = £0.122 per litre of solution. Adding the Fairy liquid brings the cost up to ££0.154 per litre. These costs were based on prices checked in June 2021.
