It's the same engine found under the hood of the Corvette and the Pontiac GTO. A four-speed automatic also found in the Corvette is the standard transmission and has been tested at seven seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph with 0-to-100-mph time that was even more impressive in just 14.1 seconds. It all rides on a shortened, reinforced version of the Trailblazer EXT's hydroformed steel perimeter frame, which is supported by a firm double A-arm suspension up front and a 5-link rear with a solid axle. This chassis and suspension give the SSR cornering capabilities way beyond those of a typical pickup, turn in is quick, and front plow mild, body roll is minimal, and feedback from the suspension and tires first rate. Stopping the SSR are 4-wheel disc brakes with standard ABS, which brought it down from 60 in a good average distance of 132 feet. It all looks factory stock in a clean and detailed engine compartment with all the correct factory components like air conditioning, power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and chrome wheels and grippy black sidewall performance tires.
