Hunter Green scored his third Top Alcohol Dragster win in just about a calendar year and his first of the 2024 season when he powered his Bond Coat A/Fuel Dragster to a tight 5.25 to 5.26 final-round victory over Madison Payne, whose father, Jay, was a two-time Brainerd Top Alcohol Funny Car winner. A little over a year after scoring his breakthrough first victory, Bob McCosh Jr. added a second, stopping Top Alcohol Funny Car points leader Sean Bellemeur in the final. McCosh’s first victory last year in Norwalk also came on a final-round conquest of three-time world champ Bellemeur. Four-time world champ Bruno Massel Jr. just keeps adding to his reputation as one of the Comp racing’s all-time greats, collecting his 19th career win. Masel streaked to a (-.57) 6.98 in his turbocharged Outlaw Mile-High Beer Cobalt to defeat two-time Las Vegas winner Travis Gusso’s (-.56) 9.01. Jason DeForrest nailed down his fifth national event win, and first since 2019 when he topped Larry Hodge in the Super Stock final. In a close final, DeForrest overcame Hodge’s .003 light by running a perfect 9.000 on his 9.00 dial. Brian Anderson was solid in the Stock final with a .015 light and a 10.330 on his 10.30 dial to send his A/SA Camaro to the winner’s circle after opponent Johnny Diekema fouled in the final. Michael Cheney thrilled the homestate crowd by winning a battle of two first-time finalists in Super Comp. Although the final round was decided early on Kris Whitfield’s foul start, Cheney nonetheless ran a near-perfect 8.907. Tom Carlson scored his second national event title in Super Gas, taking an all-Minnesota duel from Trevor Larson by just .006-second. Carlson left first by inches on the nine-time national event winner and held on for a tight 9.935 to 9.938 victory. Colorado’s Wayde Samuel picked up the Super Street title with an all-out 10.888 after final-round opponent Steve Stockton left too soon by .007-second. Kendra Larson, wife of 2024 Super Gas champ Trevor Larson, claimed her second Right Trailers Top Dragster title in the last four years in Brainerd after current championship leader Dylan Hough fouled in the final. Canada’s Darren Butler became the latest first-time winner in Right Trailers Top Sportsman after final-round opponent Kasey Kroeker left too soon in the final. 🎟 https://www.nhra.com/schedule/2024 🔔 Subscribe to our YouTube channel: / nhra1951 🌐 Visit NHRA.TV to access more content: https://www.nhra.tv/ 📲 And Follow us on all our social networks: Facebook: / nhra Twitter: @NHRA: / nhra Instagram: @NHRA: / nhra TikTok: @NHRA: / nhra
