Every year I try to have a week of wandering alone. This year I got even luckier and had a 10 day break from the world. First 3 days, I backpacked in Grand Canyon with my friends. There are a couple scenes from the beautiful hike but didn't feel like shooting much during the hike. I was mostly present, looking around and feeling the Canyon. Remaining 7 days I enjoyed the beautiful Utah and visited some of my favorite spots one more time. I usually do not have big goals as I start these trips. I set a small and personal target. It can be anything. For example for this trip, I was just dreaming of a silent sunset. Alone, distant from other people at a random spot. It happened not only once but multiple times. I felt incredibly lucky. I could spend a year in Utah and still it wouldn't be enough for me. It is beyond amazing. Most of the video was shot on Canon RF 15-35mm f2.8 and some Arizona shots including Grand Canyon hike was shot with RF 16mm f2.8. I didn't want to carry the heavy wide angle zoom with me on long hikes. I probably had the most relaxing moments I had for a while during this trip. It was an educating experience. I woke up for every sunrise. Didn't miss a single sunset. I took my time at some places. I went to some new places as well. As always I didn't film anything if the moment was not there. Last trip to Utah I didn't film anything in Capitol Reef. This time I skipped filming some other areas. I was on exploring and enjoying mode. I talked to rangers, studied maps, looked for new campgrounds for new trips. I still think about this road trip almost everyday although it has been a couple months. I hope you enjoy watching too! Totally unrelated thoughts about YT I am getting more disconnected from YouTube camera community everyday. People are so obsessed with the next big gear announcement. Talking about updates, upgrades, performance etc. I am using a fairly old camera now and I am perfectly happy with it. I actually enjoy that it is lacking some technical specs. I believe it makes a better film maker, a better photographer. I study light and practice almost everyday. I know what my camera is capable of and I need to show extra effort to shoot better scenes. I do not review cameras, I use them. The reason for that is I don't want to encourage people spend money on things they actually don't need. I never told anyone that sth is the best, or they need to buy a piece of gear. In todays world, pretty much every camera channel is a telemarketing channel. I literally unsubscribe all channels with "Why you need to buy this" type of video titles.
