David J. Mokler, Ph.D. Professor of Pharmacology & Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, UNE David Mokler, PhD is Professor of Pharmacology and Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. He earned his bachelor degree in psychology and his doctorate in pharmacology/toxicology and neuroscience at Michigan State University. He completed a NIDA post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia. He joined the faculty at UNE COM in 1986. Dr. Mokler’s research has focused on behavior and neurochemistry of the brain, particularly serotonin. His research has examined the effects of drugs of abuse on the brain, sudden infant death syndrome, prenatal protein malnutrition and the limbic system of the brain. He has published over 70 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has collaborated with colleagues at UNE, Harvard Medical College, Michigan State University, Boston University, University of New Hampshire and Temple University. Dr. Mokler has mentored over 50 undergraduate students, 15 COM research fellows and 3 masters students in his lab.
