The Ducati Multistrada V4 RS has a unique setup in that it runs a Desmosedici engine as found in the V4 Panigale and Streetfighter but with some hardware alterations and different management software in the ECU. It is the only bike in the Ducati line up that has this configuration. As such it was absolutely vital that a full development program was carried out on this bike. We could not rely on data gathered on other models. We went and spent our money on a brand-new RS, ran it in on the road and set about data logging the bike on our dyno. We did hundreds of runs and gathered a huge amount of data. Our map writers then did what nerds do and locked themselves away till they had analysed all the data and came up with a tuning strategy. The remap is tested and fine tuned till we are happy with the results. It’s then back to road testing to ensure that the bike delivers on the road as well as it does on the dyno. We managed to liberate a huge gain of 14bhp taking this bike from 166bhp to 180bhp (at the back wheel) As always, the ride-ability and throttle response is hugely improved. We are so happy with what we have been able to achieve and we’re sure you will enjoy the results as much as we have enjoyed the development process.
