First step will be the Output Select, and choosing a setting that matches the equipment you're connected to. Then figuring out whether you need to use the Boss GT-1's onboard preamp and speaker models. If you're not, then turn it OFF, and let your external amplifier do its intended work. Pay close attention to the effects you choose to use, and especially their individual volume and level parameters.
