BREWER Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. LP-PLA2 is an enzyme involved in critical functions of plaque inflammation: necrotic core (liquid "hot" plaque areas), oxidation of ldl, attraction of white cells(T cells and macrophages). This test has shown to be a great indicator of cadiovascular risk. LP-PLA2 stands for LipoProtein associated Phospholipase A2. Most labs are now getting the more accurate Activity test (not the Mass test). Cut point at Cleveland Heart Labs is 75.
