Uganda's Solar Bus Kayoola Shines Bright: A First For Africa

Kayoola Solar bus is the first of its kind on the African continent. It relies on lithium-ion batteries to power an electric motor that is coupled to a 2-speed pneumatic shift transmission. Other than building solar and electric vehicles, Kiira Motors has also tested hybrid technology in its sedan- the Kiira EV SMACK. Kiira Motors Corporation has also launched its Kayoola EVS, a fully electric city bus with a range of 300 kilometers on a full charge. The electric bus was designed and manufactured in collaboration with the students of Makerere University, the Kayoola EVS bus will go up to 300 kilometers on a single charge. ► Liked the video?
