El Salvador! Combo Day tour from San Salvador

Tour from San Salvador On today’s episode join us for a very inclusive tour from San Salvador. This was a combo tour - San Salvador Volcano and Suchitoto, and we booked it through one of our favorite companies: Viator. The company, Eco Tours Petate, pick you up right from your hotel and keep tour groups small… there were six of us for this adventure. We started out by exploring some of the highlights of San Salvador. First stop was the Plaza Gerardo Barrios, the heart of this new revitalized San Salvador. Here you’ll see the National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral and National Theater. After touring the inside of the Cathedral, we had the opportunity to visit Saint Archbishop Oscar Romero’s crypt. A somber yet unique experience to learn about El Salvador’s turbulent history. Next we made our way over to Plaza Libertad to see the inside of the very unique Iglesia El Rosario. This was MJs favorite in El Salvador. The interesting exterior (some call it ugly) does not prepare you for what you will experience inside. Make a point to see it both at night and most definitely during the day. When it’s sunny out you’ll see a rainbow of natural light rushing across the alter and bouncing off the metal and rock. It was designed by sculptor Ruben Martinez and was completed in 1971. On our way to our next destination we stopped at Picnic Steakhouse (this was what we did on the first day in El Salvador). We didn’t record there again, but did enjoy some drinks while our tour mates went down the rainbow slide. Who says you can’t enjoy an adult beverage before noon, right? We also opted to stay here for lunch. After lunch we made our way to Parque Nacional El Boquerón. Our tour guide did a great job freaking us out about this hike. You’ll have to watch for the whole story. Here we check out the crater of the impressive San Salvador volcano which erupted more than 100 years ago. Our final stop of the tour included a visit to the beautiful city of Suchitoto. A town where time stopped in the colonial era. Beautiful cobbled streets and colorful houses. We wandered around while learning more of the history here. What a fantastic way to explore this wonderful country that has seen such a dramatic change over the last 5+ years. Stay until the end of the video to see what was there to surprise us. :) Direct link to our tour: https://www.viator.com/tours/San-Salv... #elsalvador #sansalvador #travelcouple Follow us on Instagram: https://instagram.com/travelnojitters...
