You can only fight the Cloud of Darkness properly if you first beat all 4 bosses guarding the Dark Crystals; otherwise, she'll be completely invincible and do absurd damage to everyone (and if you were playing the original NES version or the 3D remake, you'd need to get through the ENTIRE final dungeon, and beat Xande again. Not fun). Cloud of Darkness is a pretty straight forward final boss - no gimmicks, she just wants to kill you pretty fast with huge damage, nearly every single turn. She resists all kinds of damage, so your alternatives to hurt her are pretty limited, including physical attacks besides shurikens. Recommended level is 50+; I accidentally ended up a bit overleveled because I was trying to finish all achievements in a single file. You should aim to have around 3000+ HP to comfortably do this fight. Team is as you can see. Ninjas and Sages were somewhat nerfed in this version, specially the later who are actually inferior to both Devout and Magus in their respective roles. Still, I decided to keep a Sage because I wanted to throw some damage in the turns I didn't need healing. Bard is an excellent support job in this version. Paean helps with healing, and Elegy reduces incoming damage somewhat, which is useful since 99% of her turns CoD spam Particle Beam, which does solid damage and will keep a Sage's hands full. It also helps that the songs always comes first, no matter what. Ninja throws shurikens and Magus casts Flare for damage, and Sage may squeeze Bahamut for some damage on the side. That's about it. I suppose a Devout could outheal the incoming damage with Curaja, with more spell charges too, and I could put another Ninja to throw shurikens and make the fight go faster. Meh, it's fine.
