My Classic Car returns to Ocala, FL to check out a pair of immaculate American Muscle cars; starting with a 1968 Shelby GT500-KR Mustang. Kicked up from the stock GT-500, the King of the Road featured a functional louvered ram air hood, oil bath air cooler, drag pack transmission, dual exhaust tips, roll bar, and racing harnesses in addition to the Cobra emblems throughout. But the biggest upgrade is under the hood, with the fierce 428 Cobra Jet engine. You’ll feel the Shelby power when Dennis fires up this iconic American pony car. Then we take out one of the KR’s street competitors from the day, the 1967 Chevelle SS Convertible. This beautifully restored Sport Coupe is also showroom quality inside and out, but the real jewel is its 350 HP 396 Turbo Jet engine. As you can imagine, this GM gem runs as nice as it looks. Every vehicle in the NPD collection is incredibly well preserved, and these legendary muscle cars are no exception.
