I remember being immediately struck by the Main Title and subsequent animated elements featured in this film. Film Composer John Addison did a marvellous job for this film, as did Richard Williams and his studio for his stunning animations, based on the style of Punch Magazine, to explain events surrounding the battle in the triumphalist manner of the period. Set in the Crimean War of the 1850's "The Charge of the Light Brigade" was made in 1968. It focuses on the almost black comedic incompetence of sclerotic senior British military commanders, whose lavish and elite social lives rather overtook their battle-readiness, leading to tragedy of massive proportions. "The film was produced during a time of public frustration over the Vietnam War, and it has been argued that in retrospect it can be seen as a warning against military interventions in other lands" (courtesy of Wikipedia).
