Day 252 "Are You Prepared for Persecution?" - Bible in a Year - September 9

Today we’re going to talk about a subject that we may not like to think about … but unfortunately may need to … persecution. We live in a culture that is increasingly hostile to Christ and Christianity. What about you? Are you prepared for what could very well come in our lifetimes and, indeed, is already happening? And what can we do to prepare? Today's Post: https://donnareidland.com/are-you-pre... Today's Readings: Isaiah 9 & 10 Psalm 106.1-5 Proverbs 25.1-2 2 Corinthians 1.1-24 Tomorrow's Readings: Isaiah 11 & 12 Psalm 106.6-18 Proverbs 25.3-5 2 Corinthians 2.1-17 For Further Thought: 1. Have you faced persecution in the past? How did you respond? 2. What are you doing to be better prepared for persecution if and when it comes? How can we prepare for persecution when it comes? 1. Eat the right things. What are you feeding on spiritually? Are you eating the Bread of Life or are you feeding on the junk food this world has to offer (Jn. 6.35, 53-58; Rom. 10.17; 2 Tim. 3.16-17)? 2. Remember His promises (2 Cor. 10.13; 2 Cor. 1.3-4). Find one that speaks to you and memorize it (Ps. 119.11). You might start with Isaiah 3.10-11. 3. Remember the sovereignty of God and that he’s always trying to get us to a better place (Jas. 1.2-4). 4. Practice responding rightly in the little things like when you feel disrespected, unappreciated, or mistreated (Matt. 5.38-48; Heb. 5.14). 5. Determine to follow Christ’s example (1 Pet. 2.19-23). 6. Make it your goal to please and honor God (2 Cor. 5.9). 7. Pray for God’s grace (Heb. 4.14-16). 8. Be part of a biblical New Testament church where you can receive comfort and be comforted by others (2 Cor. 1.3-4). If you recognize your sinful condition and want God's help and forgiveness, you might pray something like this: Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that I can do nothing to save myself. I believe that you came and lived a sinless life, yet you willingly died on the cross as payment for my sins. I also believe that you rose again and are now seated at the right hand of the Father. Lord Jesus, please grant me godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Forgive me, fill me with your Spirit, and help me to live a life that is pleasing to you. I ask this in Your name. Amen. Next steps: 1. Find a good bible teaching church and start attending. 2. Start reading the Bible regularly. 3. Talk to God in prayer.
