Use a multimeter to inspect the cord for any faults. 1. Set the multimeter to the resistance () mode on the first scale. 2. Calibrate (zero adjust) the meter. Unfortunately, my meters battery is low, so I could only adjust up to 10. Step-by-Step Testing 1. Touch one probe of the meter to one end of the power cord. 2. Insert the other probe into the socket on the rice cooker. 3. If the needle on the meter moves, the cord is fine. 4. Repeat the test for the other side of the cord. If both readings are good, the problem lies inside the rice cooker. Checking the Inner Components 1. Plug the power cord into the rice cooker and test the terminals with the multimeter. For a coil-heated rice cooker, the needle should move slightly. If the needle doesnt move, press the cook button to test further. If no reading shows even after pressing the button, internal connections might be faulty. ' Lets open the bottom cover and inspect the components. Safety Note Always unplug the power cord before opening or handling any electrical parts. Examine if the wiring has been damaged by overheating or insufficient amp capacity. 1. Inspect the coil for secure connections. 2. Locate the thermal breaker that cuts off power in case of overheating. Use the meter to test it. If theres no connection, the thermal fuse is blown. Replacing or Repairing the Fuse If you cant easily buy a new thermal fuse, heres an alternative fix: 1. Use a 3-inch coil wire (copper cable). 2. Scrape the insulation off both ends to expose the copper. Copper wires with enamel insulation wont show resistance readings unless properly scraped. If you prefer to buy a replacement, ask for a fuse breaker for rice cookers at an electronics store. DIY Connection Method 1. Wind the coil wire around the old fuse body 4-5 times. 2. Solder one end of the coil to the fuse terminal. Avoid direct soldering to prevent the fuse from losing its heat-sensitive functionality. Use rosin flux during soldering for better connection. Avoid inhaling solder fumes by working in a ventilated area. Testing the Fuse Replacement After soldering, use the meter to check if the fuse now conducts properly. If the meter needle moves, the connection is good. Reassemble and Final Test 1. Put the fuse and thermal plates back into their slots. 2. Reattach all wires to their terminals and close the bottom cover. 3. Insert the power cord, and press the cook button. If the warm light turns on, it indicates power is connected. Press the cook button again; the cook light should illuminate. Release the button, and the light should return to warm mode.
