The AP Slugs (12x70mm Armor-Piercing Slug) were a VERY popular ammo choice during the closed beta; however, after a significant nerf to shotgun slug accuracy, the AP slugs have since been pushed to the wayside. So, are they still any good? To be honest, AP slugs are just OKAY. They’re mostly viable in normal mode, where players use weaker armor that the AP slug can penetrate (it only has 35 pen, after all). The problem with AP slugs in Lockdown or Forbidden is twofold: 1. You won’t have an easy time penetrating tier 4 armor and above, and 2. With the accuracy nerf, headshots are incredibly unreliable beyond 20 meters or so. All that said, I think AP slugs have found a decent balance post-nerf, making them a good budget option for fighting lesser-geared players, but I’d leave them out of Forbidden.
