As with other Quality Importers pieces recently, the Deauville is now made in Vietnam. Therefore, we don't yet know how it holds up long-term. In contrast with other Quality Importers humidors of similar size, the Deauville has hinges along the middle, not just the sides. It's nice, but we're not sure if it's a plus. This creates a potential point of air exchange, though the inner SureSeal flange may cancel this out. Aside from this, there are brass handles on the left and right sides. On top is a tobacco leaf motif similar to those seen on some Zino Davidoff pieces. Inside, you get an analogue hygrometer, a key, a humidification source and an engravable metal plaque. There's a Spanish cedar tray with one divider, and two larger dividers that fit below the tray. The Spanish cedar of the interior and tray is kiln-dried, so it is in desperate need of seasoning before use! Above, you can find a video on why we prefer Boveda seasoning over the wipe-down method. The analogue hygrometer is effectively a paperweight, so get a calibratable digital or smart hygrometer. Like other Quality Importers options, the humidification source uses florist's foam. Suffice it to say, foam provides one-way humidification that is inferior in every way to two-way systems like Boveda. Once properly seasoned, then, the Deauville makes an excellent humidor paired with a smart sensor and 320g Boveda pack. Again, it's similar to the Old World and Old Glory, both excellent humidors. The exterior appearance and hardware is slightly different, so this presents a nice alternative in the budget price range! REMEMBER to comment!
