On Feb. 6, 2024, Dr. Richard Brown of Sophrodyne spoke to the VFS E-VTOL Flight Test Council about his paper “Understanding the downwash/outwash characteristics of eVTOL aircraft.” Dr. Brown was a helicopter design engineer on the Rooivalk then spent 30 years in academia and developed the Vorticity Transport model that helped on V-22 VRS, brownout research and Sikorsky X-2 de-risking. The started the VFS Electric VTOL (E-VTOL) Flight Test Council in partnership with AIAA, SETP and SFTE.
