Super excited to have finally found a clock I've been interested in for some time now! This is a Westminster chiming mantel clock, made by Kienzle Uhren of Germany some time between 1928-1932. It's a typical clock of the period; spring-powered, pendulum-driven, and lasts for about eight days on a winding. This one uses wire-lifted chime hammers to strike the chime rods, resulting in firm, clean blows. As a collector of musical clocks, I just had to have one of these! Its chime is the perfect blend of soft, warm, rich, resonant, and impressively sonorous for such a small clock! This is actually one of my favorite things about Kienzle clocks... They have a way of sounding much bigger than they are.
