CLARIN2024 is organised for the wider humanities and social sciences communities in order to exchange ideas and experiences within the CLARIN infrastructure. This includes the design, construction and operation of the CLARIN infrastructure, the data, tools and services that it contains or for which there is a need, its actual use by researchers and teachers, its relation to other infrastructures and projects, and the CLARIN Knowledge Infrastructure. The event was organised and hosted by CLARIN ERIC, in collaboration with CLARIAH-ES. It took place between October 15 and 17 in Barcelona, Spain. -------------------------------------------------- Over the past three decades, Steven Bird has been working with minoritised people groups in Africa, Melanesia, Amazonia, and Australia, and exploring how people keep their oral languages and cultures strong. He has held academic appointments at Edinburgh, UPenn, Berkeley, and Melbourne. Steven established the ACL Anthology, the Open Language Archives Community and the Natural Language Toolkit, and is past president of the Association for Computational Linguistics. Since 2017 he has been research professor at Charles Darwin University, where he collaborates with Indigenous leaders and directs the Top End Language Lab. Steven pursues other language-related projects at http://aikuma.org. -------------------------------------------------- Event date: [17/10/2024] 🗓️Our events calendar: 🔗https://www.clarin.eu/events --------------------------- 🕑Timestamps: 00:00 – Introduction 01:00 – Making it Meaningful 33:25 – Discussion and closing
