Magic Carpet - Re-envisioning Macau's Inner Harbour (2021) | CURB

“Magic Carpet - Re-Envisioning Macau’s Inner Harbour” is an outreach project that aims to promote community participation in the design of urban space in this neighbourhood. The event, held on 11th of December at Ponte 9 Rooftop, follows the model initiated by Prof. Hendrik Tieben in 2013 in the School of Architecture and School of Journalism at Chinese University of Hong Kong, with successful editions in several districts in Hong Kong and Taiwan. It was brought to Macau by CURB. It uses participatory video as a tool for expression and social representation, as well as for socio-spatial research. The premise implies the involvement of the population of Inner Harbour devoting their experience of the public space. Participation in workshops and interaction with the student ambassadors of this project will give the local community an opportunity to reflect on the qualities and problems of this neighbourhood of Macau, creating a new sense of belonging among them, while providing a platform for them to have a voice on current urban practices.
