The 1979 televised National Finals Rodeo (NFR) which took place in Oklahoma City. This is the most complete presentation of this event currently available on YouTube. No watermarks or personal audio commentaries, just the untouched recordings in their entirety. Reba McEntire sings The Star-Spangled Banner before the games begin. This 1979 year NFR event was dedicated to the fallen riders Brian Claypool, Gary Logan, Lee Coleman, Calvin Bunny, Mick Whiteley, Steve Williams and DuWayne Martin. The Hesston farm equipment corporation was a big sponsor of this sporting event. Bob Tallman and Debbie Johnston (1979 Miss Rodeo America winner) were some of the hosts and interviewers. The general manager of the 1979 National Finals Rodeo was Clem McSpadden. The rodeo and sports in general looked differently back in the 70s. You will notice a big lack of banners regarding beer, sports drinks, truck manufacturers, apparel brands and body worn advertisements on the riders. I was born in 1982 so i never saw this televised event. This1 hour and 40 minute recording was digitized from a 120 minute runtime VC120 Quasar VX format videotape that i purchased from ebay. There are other videos regarding this specific 1979 NFR National Finals Rodeo event available on YouTube but they are very short 1 to 4 minute long clips. This particular recording has a low resolution because the 1977 Quasar Great Time Machine VCR uses an inferior single video head system along with a single channel mono audio track with impressive SNR signal to noise ratio. I hope this recording helps fill the gaps regarding the availability of NFR National Finals Rodeo recordings on YouTube. I also own complete recordings regarding the 1981, 1982 and 1983 NFR National Finals Rodeo which i plan to upload to YouTube in the upcoming weeks.
