S6 Ep1 Motorhoming France, Portugal and Spain

We are motorhomers Dave and Tiffany and together with our two dogs we like to travel around Europe. In this series we plan on visiting France, Portugal and Spain before heading back on the ferry from Santander to Portsmouth in late November. In this episiode we show you the disasters we had even before setting off for the ferry from New Haven to Dieppe, We always check over the van before making a long motorhoming trip and this time was no different. However, when Dave was checking the van over the airbag ecu warning light came on. Our motorhome is a fiat ducato van and this fault is very common. We researched intensively into possible causes and also how to get it fixed and or a new one sent prior to our departure in a couple of days. We attempted to contact a company in Liverpool who resets the ecu but to add to our stress they were only open for a couple of days a week. Fortunately they were open the following day so I drove up with the removed ecu unit for them to fix, They made no pormises it would be done within the next 2 weeks and were not interested in helping us out. In the meantime Dave managed to contact the local fiat garage and they could get a new unit to them for the following morning. The next day we were informed that the ecu had been reset, so off we trotted to collect the repaired airbag ecu and also to pick up the new one. Once Dave had refitted the airbag ecu we set off. Unfortunately on the way down we also experienced the seat belt warning light coming on. So stopping at the services on the M1 Dave managed to reset this and then I purchased a diagnostic kit for delivery the following day at the campsite we were staying at. With all that we could do to continue our adventure we did manage to get out and walk around the area of the campsite and stopping at the pub at Chiddinley near Lewes.
