Blackbird - THE BEATLES (cover)

This The Beatles song Blackbird is on both my ‘Like McHastle’ album (all steaming platforms) and (YouTube)    • Like McHastle   playlist. (McHaStLe = McCartney, Harrison, Starkey, Lennon) For me this is the most beautiful song ever written. Paul McCartney (‪@PaulMcCartney‬) recalls writing it in Scotland as a response to racial tensions escalating in the United States during the spring of 1968. It was released on The Beatles (‪@TheBeatles‬) 1968 'White Album'. I played this album so many times that everytime after I sing Blackbird myself, I start singing 'Piggies'. Real Beatles fans probably know what I mean. Even though my way of playing doesn’t 100% match Paul McCartney’s version, it was the closest I could get. When I finally could play it like this, for almost a year it was the only song I sang. And I sang it over and over and over again. If only I reached out for my guitar, my kids started to sing the song already. Facebook:   / beauxjardinsnl   Instagram:   / songs_that_linger   About BEAUX JARDINS: I often get the question: Why Beaux Jardins? One of my older brothers has always been quite francophile. In his early twenties he even planned to go to France for good. Then we thought of which name he should use - you’d better not use the name Van Schoonhoven overthere. One of the options was to just translate our name into french: Beaux Jardins. Somehow I have always kept that name in some remote corner of my mind. Years ago when I recorded a few songs with my son Jelmer, it felt obvious to use that name. And since then I used it for all my audio and video recordings. In hindsight I can say that was not a very smart idea. Once you search Beaux Jardins on Youtube you will see hundreds of the most beautiful gardens, but Bart van Schoonhoven? ……No Way. But putting Bart behind that search string you will see my channel coming up. About ‪@Bart_van_Schoonhoven‬: Early seventies I recorded two singles with my band Breeze, a few years later followed by an album and the two hit singles, ‘Gypsy Woman’ and ‘It's Only A Matter Of Time’. Renowned for my vocal efforts, I did guest appearances on albums of various other artists, such as The Surfers and the famous series of Stars on 45. In 2005 I released an album called ‘412nd’ (for one second) with my band ‪@eumetris‬, 15 years later in 2019 followed by the album ‘The Midnight Laundrette’. Since late 2019 I have been doing solo performances with my project ‘Songs That Linger’ with lots of covers alternated with lots of originals. Unfortunately Covid-19 came and a lot of scheduled gigs were canceled or postponed. Powered by corona efforts I developed some solo projects during this period: ‘Can’t Rewind’, ‘Like Everly’, ‘Like Finn’, ‘Like McHastle’, ‘Like Simon’, 'Like Dylan'. Now I had time to record video's as well.
