now this is thornhill st michaels church now ringing call changes on all 8 bells just the sound on the staircase i couldnt do it outside because it was getting darker coming much colder and getting towards autumne blustery windy gails coming now we had about 10 ringers in the ringing chamber we rang some plain hunt on the back 6 bells first then plain bob afterwards strait through it was quiet good for the first goals but other ringers got lost in the corses but its only practice night the 8 bells are 1910 from loughbrough taylors bell founders by stuart mills your sorport helper means you wont ever be short of ringers on a wedsday evening practices i promise you all i wont let you down every bellringer at thornhill because your a great bunch of bell ringers but you all are yes think strait everybody i cant ring with you all on a sunday mornings because i ring at halifax minster at quarter to 10 till 1030am service we have got 14 bells at our tower ha we only can ring 12 at a time the biggest bell is 28 cwt in d flat our 12 bells are made from crowden and our bells came in 1951 to halifax minster now we always leave our bells up because we dont have clock chimes to them and we dont play tunes ither no the only bell we ring down is the big bell to strike the hours only dosnt chime the hours or quarters no just strikes the hours only we practice friday eves some times once a mounth we have a 12 bell practice so we can ring all 12 bells we can ring stedman cinx or we can ring plain hunt on 12 bells or even 11 bells it means you ring up to the 11th bell come back around then lead over the 12 bell ok or we can ring the back 10 bells to grandsir caters or plain hunt on 10 bells or 9 same again you ring with the treble bell up to 9 bells somebody covering you go over every other bell like 2 4 6 8 9 7 5 3 4 6 4 32 1 then lead over the tenor bell to start again ok thats how it goes i think so or we can ring a light 10 bells at halifax minster instead of ringing the big heavier bells or we can ring the other 6 bells with an extra flat sharp in c minor so we have got 4 plain blue sallys to ring the light 10 bells the strippies are blue yellow white sallys ok at halifax minster now on a sunday mornings we sometimes ring 8 bells and other sunday mornings we only ring 5 bells or 6 bells some times we only get 4 ringers only its very very rare we get 10 bellringers to come and ring at halifax on a sunday mornings or even 12 bells with other bell ringers coming from other towers to come to help us ok sometimes we ring the back 8 bells for a quarter peal or sometimes we ring the back 10 for grandsire caters or we can ring all 12 bells for stedman cinx this is to do with me covering at the back bonging behinde the others doing the methods for 49 mins if its camebridge glasgow bristol methods i arnt included cant ring the methods very very hard to learn ok
