A chegada da pandemia de HIV no Brasil em 1983, influenciou diretamente a escolha da BEATRIZ pela infectologia. Com liderança na pesquisa em HIV, reconhecida mundialmente, ela nos contará como uma mulher cientista navega por um mundo cercado de preconceitos, onde a exclusão social tornou-se a maior responsável pelas mortes por AIDS no Brasil. E essa luta, tão pouco falada nos dias atuais, ainda continua. É preciso lutar contra o machismo, o racismo, a LGBTfobia e o preconceito de classe que resultam constantemente na produção de novas vítimas. The arrival of the HIV pandemic in Brazil in 1983 directly influenced Beatriz’s choice of infectious diseases. With leadership in HIV research, recognized worldwide, she will tell us how a woman scientist navigates a world surrounded by prejudice, where social exclusion has become the biggest responsible for AIDS deaths in Brazil. And this fight, so little talked about these days, still continues. It is necessary to fight against machismo, racism, LGBTphobia and class prejudice that constantly result in the production of new victims. Beatriz é médica, infectologista, Mestre e Doutora em doenças infecciosas e parasitárias. Diretora do Laboratório de pesquisa clínica em DST/HIV da Fiocruz. Ela tem o compromisso de desenvolver estratégias inovadoras para a prevenção e tratamento do HIV para as populações mais vulneráveis. Beatriz is a doctor, infectious disease specialist, Master and Doctor in infectious and parasitic diseases. Director of the Clinical Research Laboratory on STD/HIV at Fiocruz.
