My First Knife-    • How I Made My FIRST Knife!   I'm focusing on learning different knife making techniques and one way that has been helpful to me is copying existing knives. This gives me something to compare what I make to, a way to "grade" myself. For this project, I am duplicating a Randall Made Model 14 "Attack". I made a few changes including using all stainless for the blade, guard and wrist thong tube. I chose 440c for the blade and 303 for the rest. I used black micarta for the grip the same as the Randall. The knife is hollow ground for the main grind and top grind. Most of the work was done on average tools with the exception of using a 2X72 belt grinder which is a more specialized tool, common to knive making but not the average garage or basement. I had a great time making this knife and am looking forward to using these techniques on future knife projects. www.thehomesteadcraftsman.com
