2011 Nissan Leaf On Board Charger (OBC) Removal and Reinstall. In this video, Austin EV Only explains removing and replacing the on-board charger (OBC) in a 2011 Nissan Leaf. The OBC in the Leaf has malfunctioned, and we suspect a bad diode. To address the issue, we first measure the resistance and voltage between the pilot pin and ground as well as, the proximity pin and ground, which indicates an open circuit in the pilot pin. To remove the OBC, we start by disconnecting the 12V battery and removing the High-Voltage disconnect fuse to de-energize the system as well as disconnect the highvoltage connectors. Next, they remove the rear seats and floorboards to access the OBC. We also remove the rear splash panel and disconnect the coolant hoses before finally pulling out the OBC. After removing the faulty OBC, we inspect the circuit board but find no visible issues. Since we cannot access the power board due to mushroomed screws, we decide to purchase a new OBC and install it instead. The new OBC is installed, and the necessary parts are transferred from the old OBC to the new one.
