Abstract: Break Bulges in Red Disk (BreakBRD) galaxies are a population denoted by their blue star-forming centers and red quenched disks. They do not appear to follow the typical "inside-out" evolution of spiral galaxies, and they are ubiquitous across mass and environment, suggesting they may be driven by multiple physical mechanisms and/or be a fundamental phase of galaxy evolution. We used the Green Bank Telescope to place strong constraints on the neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) masses of a sample of ~100 BreakBRDs. I will present how we used these data, combined with existing optical spectroscopic and photometric measurements, to examine the gas content, long-term star formation efficiencies, chemical abundances, and internal motions of breakBRDs, finding that they are distinct with respect to both typical star forming galaxies and the general quenching population. I will also discuss how our findings inform our understanding of how breakBRDs fit into the galaxy evolution paradigm.
