The Great Central Railway - A Mainline Heritage Railway!

My first ever trip to The Great Central Railway - an incredible mainline heritage railway! Bonus Content:    / @thatmodelrailwayguy   MERCH: https://shop.thatmodelrailwayguy.com Last year I went on a trip that involved where I visited five different heritage railways in five days with the intention of gathering inspiration for my preservation themed 00 gauge model railway. These were all railways that I'd never been to before and there was one in particular I was really looking forward to... The Great Central Railway. For those that don't know, The Great Central Railway is the UK's only mainline heritage railway, meaning that the majority of the line is double track with trains passing each other anywhere along the route. Three locos were in operation on the day I visited, A Standard 2MT, 9F "City Of Leicester" and Class 37 "Cardiff Canton". Together they took care of a busy timetable that had trains coming and going non-stop and I'm really pleased with some of the footage I took. As a result this video is longer than most of my others but can you really blame me? If you've never been to The Great Central Railway before then I bet you'll want to after seeing this! Something I didn't have time to mention is that the GCR is currently working on a reunification plan to link up the two halves of the surviving preserved Great Central Railway to create one 18 mile heritage line. It's an incredibly ambitious but exciting plan and they're well on the way to making it happen.
