Hello everyone - I took two back-to-back McKenzie River trips the last weekend of August just after the Rogue River Trip. The McKenzie was really high water-wise since we'd just had that big rain storm a week earlier and a lot of trees had fallen down into the river as a result of the heavy rains and the fires from the last few years. WARNING: There's a 90% river-wide snag just upstream of Belknap Springs that is extremely dangerous. We were told about it so we were on the lookout. There are a number of other dangerous logs in the river. As always, this section can be very dangerous due to the continuous class II whitewater coupled with the extremely cold water. That being said, it's one of the most beautiful sections of this river and should be experienced if your skill is good for the run. Or there are several good guides that you can hire to take you on the section. We did this late afternoon on August 29th since the weather was warm and Jason and I had a great time.
