This week's older board game gem is Hollywood, also known as Dream Factory, Hollywood Blockbuster and Traumfabrik. Each player represents a film studio and bids on actors, directors and other important roles in order to get their movies made. The better the movie, the more points it's worth — but even if your film isn't Oscar-worthy, you can still aim for that so-bad-it's-good Razzie! This game has gone through a number of iterations in the last twenty years, from multiple publishers taking two distinct approaches: real films and people from the golden era of Hollywood, and more recent likenesses but parodies. At the end of the video, I go over my thoughts on the different editions. Because of the extra section, I took a heavier hand when editing this video in order to keep the length down.
