Cycling Sacramento: Bell Ave to McClellan Air Park (Formally McClellan AFB) to Watt Ave.

Starting at the corner of Rio Linda Blvd and Bell Ave we ride east on Bell Ave. to McClellan Air Park. McClellan Air Park was formally a major Air Force Base from 1937 until it was decommissioned by the Air Force in 2001. The Base was turned over to Sacramento County and redeveloped for light industrial use. It is still is an active airfield used by The Coast Guard, Cal Fire and many other aviation related business. It is a major base for planes fighting California's wildfires. During wild fire season a steady stream of air tankers use the base to be reloaded with fire retardant.
