This is episode 1 of a 13-part series showcasing my 2022 northbound thru-hike of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). The CDT stretches across the U.S. from the Mexican border to the Canadian border, passing through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana along the Continental Divide. I attempted this thru-hike in 2019 and made it as far as Colorado before ending my hike due to snow conditions. Fortunate to have the chance to try again, I started on May 11 at the Mexican border in New Mexico. In this episode you’ll see some great desert scenery, wildlife (rattlesnake!!!), a cave dwelling that I stumbled upon off trail near a cattle tank that I collected water from, and a lunar eclipse that I attempted to film while camping in the desert just outside of Lordsburg. I will always love this section of the CDT known as the “Bootheel” of New Mexico.
