#bengalclassicalmusicfestival ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ On the first night of the fifth Bengal Classical Music Festival 2016, November 24, Thursday, Dhaka's music-loving audience heard Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar's duo Khayal "Jasrangi Jugalbandi" at the Army Stadium. Two artistes perform two distinct ragas simultaneously, set on the same bandish and taal. Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar were the featured vocalists, who performed Jasrangi set on two ragas -- Shudh Dhaibat Lalit and Puriya Dhanashri respectively. The pancham (Pa) of Puriya Dhanashri was the Shadaj (Sa) of Shudh Dhaibat Lalit, a raga pertaining to Thaat Marwa. The most significant aspect of the performance was the application in the rendition of the artiste duo's coming on to shom on Gandhar (Ga) of Puriya Dhanashri and Madhyam (Ma) of Shudh Dhaibat Lalit. The duo's exquisite performances of vilambit bandish “Dhundhana jaoon kitahoon chhip gaye” and drut bandish “Mairi shaane shaam” coupled with a rare variation of taan presentation was fantastic with a mellifluous harmonium sangat and riveting tabla rhythms. The singer duo later performed another Jasrangi bandish “Mora re manwa tumhi san laga”, based on two ragas Bhoopali and Durga. She first received instruction from her mother Manik Bhide, a successful singer. This, and of course, her mother’s unstinted support, added to her own mature introspection lead Ashwini to new horizons of the ever-expanding terrain of Hindustani Classical Music. She completed her Sangeet Visharad from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Being a scholar, Ashwinitai also obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the reputed Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. Thoroughly grounded in the Jaipur Atrauli Khayal Gayaki tradition, Ashwini has developed into an artiste of immense public acclaim earning high praise from discerning critics and music lovers all over the globe. Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, the maestro from the Mewati Gharana, is an artist of international acclaim in the field of Hindustani Classical and Devotional Music. An extremely popular artist, he is the inspiration for the young generation. With his magical singing, he has attracted the young generation towards the Indian Classical music. In a career spanning more than 25 years, he has assumed the mantle of a role model of dedication, hard work, patience and perseverance. On 5th October 1969, this child prodigy was born into a musical family. The first glimpse of his talent was seen at the age of 3. At the age of 8 , his mother thought the time ripe to start his formal training. His mother, Dr. Shobha Abhyankar, being a singer in her own right, became his first guru. Thus began Sanjeev’s journey in the field of music. Simultaneously, Sanjeev also started training under Pandit Gangadharbua Pimpalkhare , who also happened to be Sanjeev's mother's guru. Sanjeev gave his first stage performance at the age of 11. Sanjeev underwent training as per the Indian tradition of 'Guru Shishya Parampara' . He stayed with Jasrajji and accompanied him all over. Sanjeev procured the knowledge by becoming a part of his family. He underwent vigorous training in this manner for 10 long years. ================================== 🔔 Please do Subscribe & enable notifications for more contents from us! 👍 Website: http://www.bengalfoundation.org 👍 Facebook:   / bengalfoundat.  . 👍 Twitter:   / trustfortheart.  . 👍 Instagram:   / bengalfound....  . ------------------------------------------------------------------------ © Bengal Foundation 2023
