MTA QM6 SUPER EXPRESS Bus Ride: 2021 Prevost X3-45 1361 from Midtown to Lake Success via LIE (I-495)

Taken on 3/17/24. Footage of a super express QM6 ride from Midtown to Lake Success on a Sunday, making only ONE stop at 6th Avenue & West 36th Street and headed non-stop straight to Queens via the Midtown Tunnel and the Long Island Expressway (I-495). All other Manhattan stops were bypassed. This is an existing service pattern for some express routes in the PM rush including its Union Turnpike counterpart, the QM5. The QM2 and QM20 also have some PM trips doing this as well. However on the QM6, all trips are supposed to make all stops in Manhattan. However, due to the NYC Half Marathon, there was no possible way to travel through most of Midtown due to the marathon route. Runners took the FDR Drive to 42nd Street, then went across 42nd Street to 7th Avenue, then up 7th Avenue into Central Park. All Manhattan routes operating east of 8th Avenue as well as the Q32 and Bronx express routes were rerouted onto 8th or 10th Avenues (northbound), and via 9th/Columbus Avenues (southbound). Detours were in effect between 34th & 81st Streets. For simplicity and to reduce delays, all inbound Queens express routes effectively terminated at 6th Avenue & West 36th-37th Streets. They also originated from their respective first pick-up and went straight into Queens. While this detour was slated to be in effect until 3:00 PM, the NYC Half Marathon detours usually end earlier. This was the last trip of the day to operate said service pattern, while the next departure (2:30 PM) made all stops. Below is a map of the detour: https://new.mta.info/sites/default/fi...
