Elden Ring- Bloodflame Shura | Nagakiba Build (NG+7)

Background: Rivers of Blood was once one of the most dominant weapons in Elden Ring prior to various nerfs in PvE and PvP. While it is still a formidable weapon, if going for a bleed-centric build with a katana, it is no longer the best possible option. The title belongs to the King of Katanas: the Nagakiba with Bloodflame Blade and Double Slash. For this Build: This build is likely surprising to most Elden Ring players for a number of reasons. This is a Strength/Faith build with my Nagakiba set to the heavy affinity. This is because I prefer to two-hand the Nagakiba and despite the Nagakiba having an A scaling with Keen affinity and B scaling with Heavy affinity, a two-handed Heavy Nagakiba will be stronger than a two-handed Keen Nagakiba. Comparison while two-handing: -Heavy Nagakiba (75 Strength): 610 -Keen Nagakiba (75 Dexterity): 586 -Occult Nagakiba (min str/dex, 75 Arcane): 577 -Rivers of Blood (45 Dexterity/60 Arcane): 663 So, the Nagakiba with Heavy affinity in terms of raw physical power and versatility is the strongest of the four options. Because its damage is purely physical, it will generally hit harder than Rivers of Blood, which has to run through enemy defense's twice (once for physical and fire damage, so even if RoB has higher AR, it won't be as strong). When buffed with Bloodflame Blade, a Heavy Nagakiba will have 85 Bleed Build-up (45 natively, 40 applied over 2 seconds per Bloodflame hit), equal to an 80 Arcane Nagakiba, which has 85 Bleed Build-up and unlike Rivers of Blood, Nagakiba is not locked into one skill. The mechanics of this build are pretty much exactly as you would run Rivers of Blood; using successive hits with Double Slash and melee swings to ramp up damage and bleed build-up very quickly, buffing with Golden Vow and Flame, Grant me Strength for best results. If a boss is immune to bleed, you can either a) switch to Fire affinity (Radagon) or b) use Black Flame Blade instead of Bloodflame Blade (Elden Beast). This build is incredibly powerful and when fully buffed up has an Attack Rating of 940 (before successive hit buffs). Relevant Stats: Vigor: 44 Mind: 15 Endurance: 30 Strength: 75 Dexterity 22 (27 with Millicent's Prosthesis) Faith: 25 Talismans: 1 and 2. Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent's Prosthesis- Increases attack power with successive hits (RWSI has a higher attack buff, MP also increases dex by 5). 3. Lord of Blood's Exultation- Increases attack power by 20% when blood loss occurs 4. Shard of Alexander: Increases the power of weapon skills by 15% Flex: Ritual Sword Talisman- Increases attack power by 10% at full health. Old Lord's Talisman- Extends duration of spell buffs. Physick: 1. Thorny Cracked Tear (successive hit buff for 3 minutes. 2. Flame Shrouding Cracked (Increases Fire Damage by 20% for 3 minutes) Drip: Iron Kasa and the White Reed Set How to Improve this Build: I mean, what is there to say here? It is pretty much Rivers of Blood, but even more powerful. This may just be the only time I actually firmly attest this build is pretty much at its peak for what it is. Granted, you could change it up in terms of what suits you. If you would prioritize bleed build-up without needing to worry about buffing, you could run Occult affinity along with Double Slash or Blood Blade. If you wanted to powerstance Nagakibas, I would suggest Keen affinity over Heavy affinity because when specifically one-handing, a Keen Nagakiba would be stronger than Heavy affinity (I just don't because I actually don't like the katana powerstance at all, save for its rolling and jumping attacks). Then, if you REALLY want to be just, SO POWERFUL and OP, go 80 Strength and 80 Dexterity and go with Quality affinity, the Nagakiba would have a base AR of 684 when two-handing, which I'll admit, is overkill. It would be 10.9% than my current stat spread, but it would also be 58 levels higher (5 in Strength and 53 in Dexterity) than this build, so it better be.
