Studentenlied über die romantische Landschaft des Saaletales mit den beiden benachbarten Burgen Rudelsburg und Saaleck. Geschrieben wurde es von Hermann Allmers im Jahr 1863. Hermann Ludwig Allmers (1821-1902) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller und Dichter, der vor allem über Kultur und Landschaft seiner nordwestdeutschen Heimat schrieb. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde die Rudelsburg zum Treffpunkt romantisch gesinnter Wanderer, besonders der Studenten aus Jena, Leipzig und Halle. Die Burg Saaleck liegt wenige hundert Meter entfernt von der Rudelsburg an der Saale oberhalb von Saaleck im Burgenlandkreis in Sachsen-Anhalt. Die beiden Höhenburgen sind nur noch als Ruinen erhalten und als Ausflugsziel beliebt. Sie liegen an der Straße der Romanik.
