How a PEUGEOT Pepper Mill is made - BRANDMADE in FRANCE

The classic PEUGEOT pepper mill - made in Quingey, France, close to the Swiss border. The beauty of France on your dining room table. And it all began almost 300 years ago. The Peugeot family began in the manufacturing business in the 1700s. In 1810 Jean-Pierre and Jean-Frédéric Peugeot inherited their family's gristmill and converted it into foundry and steel fabrication operation. In 1842 they added production of coffee, pepper and salt grinders. The company's entry into the vehicle market was by means of crinoline dresses, which used steel rods, leading to umbrella frames, saw blades, wire wheels, and ultimately bicycles. Armand Peugeot introduced his "Le Grand Bi" penny-farthing in 1882, along with a range of other bicycles. Peugeot bicycles continued to be built until very recently, although the car company and bike company parted ways in 1926. The Peugeot Museum of Adventure in Sochaux, France has an extensive display of Peugeot automobiles, bicycles, coffee grinders and early pepper mills. Peppery Design History: 1874 The Z model was the very first model of the Peugeot table pepper mill, and also the most widespread, and still manufactured today. Initially, in plain white china, it was then made in silver-plated metal, in Bakelite, in wood - it was sometimes fitted with a crank handle. 1931 Bakelite model introduced to the market. Also first Peugeot Lion insignia appears moulded to the base of the pepper mill. 1956 Classic model, made of beech, it is still part of the Peugeot collection today. 1968 The Tahiti Collection with its clean modern lines is still part of the collection today. In the 70s, it appeared in new bright colours such as orange and green lacquer. 1987 The Paris collection – One of the most iconic Peugeot designs available in natural and painted wood. The classic red is a top seller.
