College Football Recruiting - Rising Seniors

Rising Seniors This is it! Your last season. The elite players that haven’t committed are getting more offers and should be visiting their ideal schools. Even as a top recruit, if you don’t love the programs that offered you so far, keep looking and contacting new ones. However, if you have an offer from your favorite school but delay your commitment because you are trying to rack up offers, that’s a huge risk to take. The school has every right to accept the commitment of students that jump at an opportunity to play at their school, especially if you are wavering. More elite athletes are committing and enrolling early in school to get a head start on their freshman season If you don’t have offers or haven’t been getting phone calls, it’s time to realize that you are either targeting the wrong schools or just haven’t done enough to be noticed. If they’re talking to you but haven’t offered, you need to find out what they need to see from you as a senior to make an offer. You also need to create more options for yourself by targeting schools at a lower tier division or conference. Contact 100 new colleges with your recruiting video and attend senior showcases to explore D2, D3, and NAIA options. You should go to college camps where coaches have shown interest in you and get ready for a great senior season! You’d be surprised how many NFL players did not get to play Varsity until their senior year. Carson Wentz was too small as an underclassman and suffered an injury his junior year. But his senior year led his high school to the state semifinals. Barry Sanders was finally given a shot at running back on his senior year and rushed for 1,417 yards in the last seven games of the season Khalil Mack didn’t play football until his senior year of high school after an injury ended his dreams of being a basketball player. Mack recorded 140 tackles and 9 sacks in his only season of high school football. It’s not too late for you, but you will need to have a good senior season. It may be too late to play at LSU or Alabama, but you may be able to play at a lower tier FBS, FCS or D2 school to start your college career. Remember, it’s not where you start that matters. There are plenty of opportunities to transfer even during your college career. Don’t forget your College Admission and NCAA Eligibility are predicated on your GPA and admission test scores. For schools that no longer require admission tests, your GPA and the quality of courses taken, are critical for admission evaluation. Obtain guidance from your high school advisor and the college coaches that are recruiting you. If a school requires the test, make sure your ultimate score meets their desired athletic scholarship score and the NCAA sliding scale qualifications. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Educating Athletes is a non-profit program with an unprecedented youth enrichment and educational initiative for disadvantaged high school athletes that have the potential of earning athletic college scholarships and also face the growing challenge of opioids, concussions and other sports risks. The program is operated by volunteers who have mentored over 500 student athletes through the process of high school athletics and becoming productive members of their community. In partnership with NFL players and alumni, college coaches, and non-profit organizations like Athletes in Action, we have designed a program that addresses the physical, mental and personal development of students athletes.
