Here's a complete broadcast of a first-run airing of the Mork & Mindy episode "Mork the Tolerant" (S01E14), as aired on the ABC Network over its Chicago outlet WLS Channel 7. This is the show that rocketed Chicago native son Robin Williams (who played "Mork from Ork") to superstardom, and to a lesser extent his co-star Pam Dawber (whose other famous show, a decade on, would be My Sister Sam). The guests on this episode were Tom Poston (in-between Bob Newhart shows) and Ed Greenberg. Includes: Commercials for: Sanyo (joined in progress) - "That's Life - Sanyo!" TWA - "Kids Under 12 Fly Free for February & March" (with Don Criqui - and rewrite of "Up-Up and Away") Theatrical trailer for "Ice Castles" (ending voiceover by Al Parker?) Station ID / promo for Chicago Art Institute (voiceover by Al Parker?) Show opening titles Commercials for: Milky Way candy bars (with reporter Bill Overend - who had worked at CBS News during the 1970s, and would later work for the Los Angeles Times) - "At Work, Rest or Play, You Get Three Great Tastes" (voiceover by Casey Kasem) Franco-American Spaghetti-O's - "Oh-Oh, Spaghetti-O's" Episode Act I Commercials for: Close-Up toothpaste (with Tom Selleck - more than a year before he landed the title role on a TV show called Magnum, P.I.) Mrs. Butterworth's - The Original Buttered Syrup (with a pre-Facts of Life Kim Fields) Promo for special preview of Delta House (main voiceover by Ernie Anderson) (ending voiceover by Ed Williams) (most of the fourth episode, taped off another ABC station in another city, can be seen here:    • ABC Network - Delta House - "Guns of ...  ) Animated ABC ID with lower-third local station ID at bottom Episode Act II "Mork & Mindy" bumper (voiceover by Pam Dawber) Commercials for: Bic shaver - with bonded top-quality stainless-steel blade Dentyne chewing gum - "Brush Your Breath with Dentyne" Episode epilogue (with Mork recounting his life lessons of this episode to Orson), followed by ending credits (with voiceover promo for Donny & Marie, "A Last Cry for Help" on The ABC Friday Night Movie, "The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy" and "The Amazing Phenomenon of Benji for Sunday, and Delta House - "An ABC Comedy Special" - by Ed Williams) followed by blue Paramount ending logo largely not seen since original airings Promo for a special airing of The Love Boat, followed by "Salvage," for Saturday (voiceover by Ernie Anderson) Commercials for: Amoco - with examples of how they're working to make our country less dependent on foreign oil - "You Expect More From a Leader" 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix (headed to O'Hare) AM Chicago slide with cryptic and slightly ominous voiceover, "the last minutes of Eight is Enough, tomorrow at 9..." by Al Parker This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, January 18th 1979 during the 6:58pm to 7:30pm timeframe (that was 4-5 days after Chicago was hit with the big Blizzard of '79, so viewers would have been homebound anyway). About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television: The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: [email protected] Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, please e-mail [email protected] Thank you for your help!
