First thing is we need to go through each and every area of syllabus. Financial accounting is divided into more than 10 areas. Which are Purpose of Financial reporting Basic Accounting Concepts Rules for Debit and Credit Difference between Single entry and double entry How record transactions How to post transactions in ledgers and to trial balance Understanding of errors in accounting records How to prepare financial statements Bank reconciliation statement Basic understanding of consolidation Analysis of financial statements Students must understand, exam cannot be passed with ease until 2. Next thing is practice. There is saying practice makes a man perfect. So you have to do practice as much you can. When i was student, we had normally completed practice kit for atleast 8 times.Practising many questions give you confidence and boost your morale for exam. Further it helps you to understand the mind of examiner and how question is asked in exam. So never ignore exam practice. Read all latest articles. It will help you to understand the relevant content about current issues. Sometimes examiner ask questions from articles as well. 3. You have to complete one mock exam at least before exam. But mock should be taken in the same situation like real exam. It will reduce the exam pressure from your mind. You will also be familiar with the exam situation. 4. It is very important to sleep for at least 8 to 10 hours in night before exam. Fresh mind is very important before exam. Because you will have to solve MTQs and you will have to read scenarios to solve questions. So fresh mind is plus point in this situation. You cannot generate any value if you study till last moment of the paper. It actually reduces the chances to pass the exam. Exam Technique You need to understand the exam structure of F3 Financial Accounting. There are two sections of exam. First section consists of 35 multiple choice questions, it covers all area of F3. Second section consists of 2 multi task questions, these 2 questions normally come from consolidation and preparation of financial statements. So your preparation should be according to structure of exam. Time management Time management is key factor in success of exam. You have total time available is 2 hours means. You have 1.2 minutes for 1 mark. Time available for 1 MCQ is 2.4 mins. And MTQ has 18 marks. Intelligent time management is very important. Because you will have read the question and will have to do some working as well. Your time will be consumed in these activities and pressure will be increased. So your eye should also be on your time. Skip Difficult questions As we have discussed time management is very important. So it you are stuck in a question and you are feeling, it is impossible to solve it. Then don’t waste your time and move to next question and try to score in those questions which are easy or you are confident on them. Requirement Majority students don’t read the requirement carefully. This mistake leads them towards choosing wrong option. Student should start reading from requirement instead of actual question. It will be a great help for you guys. Stick to scenario Next thing is linking of question scenario with answer. This is very basic skill but many student are unable to stick with the scenario. Your accuracy will be increased, if you get the skill of sticking with the scenario Computer formats It is very important to understand the formats of different questions in CBE. How to put values, how to put signs and how to write balances in accounts. Like minus, numbers and full stop for decimal is only allowed in CBE. Reverse Calculations of formula Examiner ask very tricky questions sometimes. You need to prepared for every type of calculations from any formula. Sometimes you will need to do reverse calculation to reach the answer. Keep in your mind. According to me exam is a game with examiner.
