For today’s Image Editing Demonstration, I chose a shot of an interesting formation in the Grand Canyon named “Duck on a Rock”. I admit that I had to stare at the thing for a while before I saw the duck, and I realized that a picture of this structure would need some light and color shaping to make it more obvious to the viewer of the photo. This edit takes place completely in Lightroom and focuses on the Bruch and Gradient Masking Tools to selectively add contrast, color, light and temperature to different parts of the image. Using just these tools, the transformation is stunning as we see a bland, colorless raw file transformed into an interesting and fun photograph.
