Wonderful adaptation and arrangement by Evan Kilgore, playing EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument) on this, of a great Snarky Puppy piece. The beautiful and superbly talented Alita Moses is the vocalist. Ms Moses won the 2014 Montreux Jazz Festival Jazz Vocalist Competition over the summer, beating out 100 competitors from 34 countries. You can see clearly why on this piece. A secret pleasure I take in this band is the fact that fully a third of these great young musicians developed their skills through the Lenape Regional School District - my son, Reed Bodenstein (Shawnee) on piano, Evan Kilgore (Lenape) on Tenor and EWI here, Phil Hansen (Shawnee) on Alto, Jake Kaplan (Cherokee) on bass, and Jimmy Boyle (Cherokee) on trumpet. A tribute to the District's support for the arts, and the great work of the jazz band directors, Messrs. Rotindo, Phillips, and Nicholas. Dan Nissenbaum also solos on this piece on trumpet. ENJOY!
