Baby Butcher Bird Story - Spring 2020 Brisbane, Australia

Baby Butcher Story One windy Thursday, On the way to an appointment in Spring Hill, Brisbane I cycled past a fluffy ball. The strangeness was its location. I saw it was a baby bird and thought I'd check in with it on my way home. 2 hours later it was in the same place and not looking happy. Parents were visible but not feeding... Crows were plentiful and night approaching... Valley rats are large and abundant... So I easily picked up fluffy, wrapped it up in my shirt and came home. There was lots of feeding, live crickets, worms etc... We even went on a trip to the Mount Petrie Bowman archery club! Thanks to Wendy who was open to having it along whilst regular feeding was still necessary. 5 days later with a lot less fluff and many more feathers, the bird had the ability to fly in short burst upwards, which is what I was waiting to see. The sweet little bird was then wrapped again and taken back to Spring Hill, where it was found. And after a bit of patience and parent finding This chick was successfully re-integrated into its urban home and family. This video will share images and film of that story. ... Always read up on your friends diet; Birds in general don't make or eat bread. This species dose not eat seed. Crickets were key to the success of this insectivores rehabilitation.
